Like go.google.com, but not.
So a quick search of the web for my problems always led back to the go.google.com redirect virus that everyone is having problems with. However, it's not the problem.

Symptoms:
- Google search result links are fine. However, links within other websites are redirecting to random sites or bringing up a google search results page for R rated topics. I can only get back to the original page by selecting it out of the drop down list on the back button, or by hitting back quickly in succession.
- Problem started after I downloaded and installed Google Chrome. Problems have not disappeared after uninstalling Google Chrome. Problem is exhibited in Chrome, Firefox, and IE7.
- No system32 drivers have been updated since Jan 9.
- Cannot browse My Computer, can only Explore it.
- If I click on links that are in an alternative program like AIM, they do not open... but I just fixed that. Windows didn't revert back to Firefox as a default browser after I got rid of Chrome.
- McAffe seemed to have no problem updating, and the scan it ran last night returned the following five trojans:
J:\autorun.inf ..... J is an external HD
F:\autorun.inf ...... so is F
C:\windows\system32\GAOPDXEYXSTWFH.dll
C:\recycler\s-1-5-21-1644491937-1202660629-1060284298-500\dc5929.exe
C:\autorun.inf

Sometimes the computer slows way down, and the following problems are exhibited:
- The only way to switch between open programs is Alt+Tab.
- Ctrl+Alt+Dlt does not bring up Task Manager.
- Taskbar and start menu are unclickable.

I think I've given the most detailed info I can. Thanks for any help.

I've edited your post to remove the clickable link. Please don't post links to malicious destinations.

The General Security forum is only for general questions regarding security software and things of that nature but not for actually removing malware as we have qualified helpers who are the only members who are authorized to assist with those matters. You can easily identify them as they have either a gold or blue shield beside their usernames. Please refer to this excerpt from the rules:

Quote:
Log Analysis/Malware Removal - In order to ensure that advice given to users is consistent and of the highest quality, those who wish to assist with security related matters must first graduate from one of the malware boot camp training universities or be approved by the administration as already being qualified. Those authorized to help with malware issues have a gold shield next to their name and authorized malware removal trainees have a blue shield next to their names. Anyone wishing to participate in a training program should contact a Moderator for more information.
I'm going to close this thread and ask you to repost in the Malware Removal & HijackThis Logs forum for the proper assistance.
