Solved: AVG - Long Scan Time?
I'm using AVG 8 paid version, and a full scan takes about two hours, around 425,000 files/objects get scanned. Is this normal? I have two accounts on this system, an Admin and a Limted User. A full scan with MalwareBytes takes about 45 minutes and looks at around 145,000 files/objects.
The system is a Dell Dimension 4550, 2.0Ghz, 1G of RAM running WinXP Home SP3, about 5 years old now. Thanks.

Just my opinion but that sounds about right I suppose for a full scan, thats a lot of files to get scanned,a quick scan would take less time of course ....if malwarebytes had the same number of files to scan it would give or take,be about the same time roughly, even though they are looking for different things....

On the machines I've got AVG 8 free edition on, I'm seeing 3 hr scan times with 950,000-1,000,000+ objects being scanned.

Peace...
