Dear tbtater,
Open Control panel. At the top you will see TOOLS.Under Tools you will see "Folder Options".Open it and click on "Restore Defaults". Restart computer and check whether your problem has been solved.

If this does not do the job,go here: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

This will fix what is called file association types. They are Zip files and download whatever extension files are causing the problem. Please get back and tell what happened!

Hey wait,
What service pack have you in place on your computer? Make sure it is Service pack2! The ultimate fix i can offer you is a "windows repair install" and it can be read and followed from here. I suggest you take a print out from either your pc or from your friend's, and it is:http://www.besttechie.net/forums/ind...showtopic=1523

ps:Why do you want to have the best of both worlds, like having Win XP and Vista on the same machine!Beats me!!
