Solved: Failed AVG Free install-now outlook won't open
Tried twice to install AVG- Got this error msg 0x80070014. Was going to send an email to avg support but suddenly outlook can't open. suspect it's the install?? I also uninstalled trial version of Norton and had to use the uninstall tool to remove live update. Cd this be contributing? Any other way to get to outlook?

Thanks

Is AVG installed right now?

I would do this:
  1. Empty your browser cache
  2. Download a fresh AVG installer (save it on your hard drive but DO NOT run it yet)
  3. Uninstall the currently installed AVG product
  4. Reboot
  5. When the system comes up, go to Windows Security Center (in Control Panel) and confirm Windows reports NO anti-virus software is installed)
  6. Run the AVG installer downloaded above
  7. Reboot
  8. When the system comes back up, I would start AVG and run updates and a scan.

Now, after confirming NO anti-virus software is installed in Windows Security Center, AVG should install cleanly. If it does not, report back here.

Peace...

Outlook or Outlook Express?

Which version of Outlook?

To repair O, see, for example:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227

OR
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...758311033.aspx

Source:
http://www.google.com/search?q=repai...ient=firefox-a

O & OE are email clients, which give you access to your email account; they are not your email account. Thus, you can access your email at the web site of your email provider. For example, if your email address [ NEVER provide your email address in a thread; spammers will love you ] is email_bogus_address@myISP.xyz , go to www.myisp.xyz and log in. Now, you can access your email account.

Which version of AVG;example 7.5 or 8.xxx? Free or commercial? If commercial, which AVG product?

AVG has a remover tools, which you might want to run after following Tomcat's instructions 1 - 4.

Your error 0x80070014, EXCELLENT job, by the way of including that information, is unfortunately common. For example: http://freeforum.avg.com/read.php?13,169287,169371
and frequently posted at Tech Guy Forum.

If you are running AVG free, note that it no longer detects rootkits. I do not argue with Tomcat's advice, but you might need to obtain assistance from the malware removal experts.

Personally, I think you should click on the "report" link of your post and ask the moderator to move your thread to the malware removal forum, to be certain that the malware is gone.
