Desktop icons, toolbar problems
I currently have McAfee installed, scanned multiple times and it says my computer is safe.

However, with no warning messages, error messages, or anything...everytime I log in, my desktop icons and toolbar load as usual. Then after everything loads, they both disappear, then reappear, disappear, etc. before finally disappearing for good. In order to get to the internet, I have to CTRL/alt/delete and run it that way.

Gotta say it's very annoying.

I've already made sure I'm showing my icons, I just can't seem to find the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello & welcome to Tech Guy Forum.

*** No antivirus or Anti spyware, or other anti malware program will detect every piece of malicious software. Thus, a scan by McAfee, while an important step, is not the final step.

Tech Guy Forum has a sub forum devoted to the removal of malware.

The desktop icon problem you note is caused by multiple pieces of malware. Other causes are also possible.

Thus, I think you should click on the "report" link of your post and ask the moderator to move your thread to the malware removal forum, to be certain that there is no malware. Be sure to read http://forums.techguy.org/malware-re...st-before.html

and http://forums.techguy.org/general-se...ing-forum.html

If you are convinced that your computer is malware free, I suggest that you ask a moderator to move your thread to the subforum associated with your computer's operating system. Because you did not provide that information in your post, you will have to select the forum from these choices.

http://forums.techguy.org/49-operating-systems/

Be sure to include the following:
RIGHT click "computer" / "my computer".
Left click properties.
Note: OS & SP [ service pack ].
CPU / processor
ram
onset of problem time frame
relation of problem to addition or removal of hardware, software, or updates, to include AntiSpyware, McAfee, & Windows updates.

Any other unusual behavior of your computer.
