Question Multiple Security Software, pointless?
I'm just curious if its practically pointless (even conflicting) have the below multiple software?

Avira Antivirus
Spyware Blaster
Spybot S&D
Windows Firewall (default)
Ad-Aware
Router's default firewall

I'm running Windows 7 Beta at this time too, but that aside is the above list pointless?

I use Firefox browser as well with various security related extensions like:

WOT
Adblock Plus

Its good that u have dome that
Most people take advantage of their pcs by not having protection. U in the other hand has done it & thinking u might have over drive it.
The fact is, any of the apps you have mentioned has its pros & cons
Antivirus is Antivirus (no need to detail that one)
Spyware blaster provides protections from known spyware & malware to your IE sessions (live).
Spybot provide On Demand protection from all known spyware, malware that their database has. this includes all files in your C drive.
Windows firewall is useless at this point. but it's good if you don't have a failsafe net.
ad-ware (On Demand) does the same as Spybot with minor differences, such as more definitions for their database.
Router firewall is good if you have it configured. Most people have router firewall running as DMZ which allowing all apps to run. Symantec, & zone alarm firewalls are more sophisticated to that roll.
to answer your question No, you are not creating a conflict or over doing it. I will add malwarebytes as it has even more definition

My advice is to get the NoScript add-on for Firefox (and upgrade to version 3.0.7 if you haven't already as it just came out this week with some critical fixes).

You need a dedicated anti-malware like MBAM as mentioned or "a2-Squared Free" which can be downloaded from:http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/ which is quite good at it's job, though it may come up with some false-positives. Super anti spyware is highly regarded in this site and for good reason too!
