Question Solved: help with avast! anti-virus...
hi.... i have avast! anti-virus 4.8 home edition...

whenever i scan, it stops when a virus is found, and it annoys me because i want it to continue scanning then just present me with a result of the scan, of the viruses it found. I usually leave my PC when scanning for i have other things to do so it would be nice if it would work that way....

do you know how to change it,configure its settings? if possible....

i tried working it out myself but just can't get it....

thanks in advance ..

Hi not that I know of.
It stops so that you can decide if you agree, that what it flags up as dangerous, is correct.
For instance..it always flags up that a dll file used by BT, my internet provider.
And asks is it Ok or do I want it removed.

Sometimes any Anti-virus program will not know, if a file is good or bad.
And it is down to us users to make the final choice.

I've used the free Avast and it's not auto configurable to auto quarantine - only the paid version.

http://download950.avast.com/files/e...me-edition.pdf

here is the link to the Avast user guide. Opens in Adobe reader.

on page 38 it tells how to do a boot time scan. You might try this scan, it starts and completes without stopping until it is finished.

In a boot time scan you're scanning before system files load and before the possible virus is loading So the boot scans before the operating system and before the virus gets active.

Thanks E7 for the added information.
I do both scans once a week. I just turn up my speakers and if I hear the warning, I go take care of it.
Avast(free) has worked for me and many of my family members, on our home computers. We don't mind the inconvience. Well worth it.
