Should I get rid of Mcafee?
Please don't move this to the other security thread!!!! This is just a question!

currently, I have Mcafee Security Suite, Malewarebyte's Antimalware, and Superantispyware. Personally, I think Superantispyware is awesome because I did a noncomplete 6 min short/quick scan and it picked up tons of corrupted files whereas Malrewarebytes didn't. I got Mcafee for free because I'm a Yahoo internet customer so it might be the better version. But back to the question: since I have those other two programs, should I remove McAfee? It seems to be just annoying with so many updates and processes running at once. I don't think I've ever ran a full scan with it.

I don't have any direct experience of the programs you mention but McAfee antivirus gets reasonable ratings at AV Comparatives; http://www.av-comparatives.org/ and I'm not certain that the other programs you mention are actually full blown AV programs.

Of course it's possible that the version offerred by your ISP is not a 'full' version, but I don't know how you would go about finding out about that. As for 'too many updates', my AV, NOD 32, can update as much as five times a day, if not more, but it is so unobtrusive I only know because I get a small popup advising me that the update has happened.

No. The other two programs, Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware are Anti-Spyware/Malware programs, not a Anti-virus program. Mcafee Security Suite has a Anti-virus program that monitor activity on your machine for viruses.... I think this is your question.

You should run a full virus scan with Mcafee.

Edit I see Cookiegal is helping you in the "Malware Removal & HijackThis Logs" Do NOT run any Scans until you are done there... Your are in very good hands!

If your well-known Security Suite is current and working, why change?

Yeah, people who who Yahoo DSL get Mcafee security suite. I think Comcast users can also get the same thing.

As for keeping Mcafee, I forgot it was an anti-virus program rather than anti-malware/spyware.

Does anyone know if I can scan a specific folder using McAfee? The only choices are the drives and other big/general areas (Desktop, My Docs)

Hi wicked.ludicrous

Your are being help by a expert in malware. Wait for instructions there, before
you run any virus/malware scans. Because it makes it harder for the helper when scans are done without them knowing....

When your computer is clean, come back here and we'll help you with these questions. By the way, this is a very good question with Mcafee. Now that I have Mcafee, I'll see if this can be done. to scan one specific folder.

I'm adding, I've noticed that starting in the last few months, McAfee has blocked out various images online, including a few user's avatar/profile pictures here at TSG!
