eset nod32 antivirus
I have been using eset nod32 antivirus as recommended in a previous post. now it tells me my licence will run out in a few days. does this mean I have to apply again for a free download or is this the time where i have to subscribe ? please advise? And is it the same for comodo firewall as well?

Comodo Personal FW is free.

1 of comodo's internet security products is free; the other is commercial; each with a free download, but the C IS Pro has a 30 day trial period.

Be aware that C IS can be installed as AV plus FW, AV only, FW only.

If you install Comodo's AV, do NOT install NOD32 or any other AV program.

I have no experience with NOD32.

Some companies have, recently, begun advertising a free download, which means that you do not have to pay them to download the program. But that might have no relationship to the use of the file you downloaded. Don't ask me. I wasn't in the meetings.

FWIW:
I stopped using C P FW because it tried to take control of too many aspects of my computer. I like to be in charge. Merely a personal choice. I know that many TGF members use Comodo products.

If you haven't yet bought a licence for NOD 32 from Eset you presumably have the 30 day trial which is coming to an end.

If you want to keep using it (or upgrade to the new Version 4) you will have to pay to register your copy, probably from the same place you got the trial version. The two year licences are obviously cheaper and I am on my second one now.

Obviously you can try the various free AV programs (AVG, Avast, Avira etc.) if you don't want to pay for protection. Lots of people here use them and will be able to tell you if any of them have problems installing after an earlier AV has been uninstalled

PS. I am using the free Comodo firewall (Version 3.8.65951.477) that comes with its suite (CIS) which I downloaded the full version of, but didn't install the Antivirus component.
