Hello and welcome to TGF.
Which McAfee product?
Did you install it or did it come with your computer?
Which version of Windows is on your computer? Which service pack?
Would you describe yourself as an advanced, intermediate or beginning computer user?
What steps have you taken to uninstall your McAfee product?
How do you know that it is still on your computer?
Why do you want / need to uninstall it? Did a virus corrupt / mess up McAfee?
Have you installed another AntiVirus program? Usually having 2 AV programs on your computer can cause many problems.

It may be universal for all McAfee products [ hence the term universal. I am making fun of myself. ] or one may need to use a tool specific to a particular McAfee product.

#10 | Which part did not work? You added an additional set of circumstances when you noted: "I've tried to use the websites that everyone tried to send me to but, it just keeps saying internet explorere cannot show the page.PLEASE HELP!".
s p, please provide a step by step narrative of the steps you have taken. For example, which we sites produce the error message, majorgeeks, as referenced by golferbob, other sites?
Use your favorite search engines to search for: mcafee uninstall OR remove OR remove . "OR" needs to be in caps.
Please answer the questions I posed in #2. Which versions of the McAfee programs?
Go to www.mcafee.com and try to find their removal / uninstaller for download.
The last time I downloaded the tool, it was called MCPR.exe
To paraphrase a TGF member: Many of us are brilliant, but few of us are clairvoyant.
My intent is to be funny / humorous, not derogatory.
Some places you can try:
#7 at http://community.mcafee.com/showthre...ghlight=remove http://home.mcafee.com/Root/Support.aspx?page=Support http://community.mcafee.com/search.php?searchid=4985444 http://community.mcafee.com/ http://service.mcafee.com/default.as...1033&cid=39354
I refer you to the above sites, NOT to give you the idea that we at TGF are unwilling to help you, s p:, but to provide additional resources; in this case for you to try to download the Mcafee Product Removal utility, or whatever name McAfee has given their product.
Try to download the file, from majorgeeks using a different computer, and a different browser; such as IE, or FireFox, or Opera.

| Here's a direct download link rainforest123, that I use... McAfee Removal Tool- Download the removal tool.
- Click Save and save the file to any folder on the computer.
- Navigate to the folder where the file is saved.
- Make sure all McAfee application windows are closed.
- Double-click MCPR.exe and the removal tool will start automatically.
Note: Windows Vista users must right-click and select Run as Administrator. - Once the removal tool is finished, you will be prompted to restart your computer.
- Wait for the computer to restart.

Thanks. How do you close all McAfee applications? Do you use Task Manager? What do you do if the McAfee service refuses to close?
I hope the OP finds it useful. Youmay become the resident TGF McAfee uninstall expert.

RF123 | First, in the system tray, right-click the McAfee virus Scan icon and select exit. Then if this does not work, use "Task Manager" If this does not work. I use Process Explorer by Mark Russinovich. If this does not kill it, I look for help..... | | Distinguished Member with 2,134 posts. | | Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: S.C Experience: Malware Fighter |

#14 | I'm running McAfee on this computer now... And you can't right-click the McAfee virus Scan icon and select exit anymore with Security Center.. You need to do this: Quote: |
Double-click the taskbar icon to open Sec. Center. Then click Advanced Menu (lower left) then Configure (left). Click the items tabled at the top left and their modules will open and in them you can turn off various things.
