Hi everyone.
Some time ago I had a similar problem with AVG free version. I thought I had downloaded it from a legit site but it seems not. I had the same message so I uninstalled and reinstalled from the legit site Via download.com.All seemed well after that. I also see that avast av is mentioned. I have been using that for the last 3 weeks and its amazing. Especially with limewire p2p. Have had AVG for some years and was satisfied with it until now. Still a good AV but avast runs rings around it.

AVG will work perfectly well if you use a legit version. AVG is a great AV and I am pleased to see its doing well for you. Do you use Lavasoft Adaware?

That message from AVG often means that there has been a corrupt update or it is an out of date version

I am going to assume it is avg free you are using so go to http://free.avg.com/ download the latest free version

then uninstall old version, reboot, install new version, reboot & problem should be solved
