I was reading around and a thread advised to download some spyware programs. So I downloaded Spy Sweeper as an option from that list. I just want to tell everyone DO NOT use this software. It took longer than any other program I have ever used and I only have 30gb of used space on my HD.

Then it came back with 4 results of cookies that you normally store. On top of that I couldn't even try out the darn program I had to buy before it would sweep the cookies. I deleted it right away and I moved on to SUPERAntiSpyware. Good choice?


Anyone else use this program before and is it normal for it to take a whole day and night and then some?

Yes, You are right. Superantispyware is a good option. Even you can also look for the Anti-Malwarebytes. It is also very good for the malwares.

If you switch to SAS, don't use the free version. SS provides real time protection. SAS Free does not. SAS Pro does.

You may have malware on your computer, or your computer may have a different problem with SS.

or other suitable place. DO NOT just press run from the website Double click on the file and it will install to C:\program

files\hijackthis and create an entry in the start menu.
Click on the entry in start menu to run HijackThis
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.
Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a

reply.
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required,
so do NOT fix anything yet.

So SuperAntiSpyware is not as good a free choice as the Malware program you recommend? I want to use a free program for now because I have McAfee and Comodo Firewall. I just want a scanner. I don't want something that's always running that may conflict with McAfee Security Center.

No free program, of which I am aware, will provide you with the real time protection that I think is needed.

SAS & MBAM do a good job of removing malware, as do other programs. I am not recommending the use of SAS or MBAM or any other program to remove malware. That is not my role at TGF. Only those with gold or blue shields are authorized by TGF to provide malware removal advice.

Unfortunately, your problem is due to a conflict between Spy Sweeper and Comodo. I now have the same problem. Spy Sweeper is an excellent tool -- if you have all shields enabled, it's virtually impossible to have malware get on your system unless you OK it accidentally or you run afoul of a buffer overflow exploit...

To remove malware on other people's computers, Malwarebytes has done a tremendous job for me.

OK, off to solve the slow Spy Sweeper sweep problem. If I have to, I'll go back to a more stable build of Comodo. 3.8....477 doesn't BSOD on me like the one just prior, but I'm four hours into a 22 minute sweep right now...

Comodo has become like Zone Alarm -- save developer time by releasing new builds and letting their customers do the testing. That's why I switched to Comodo in the first place.

I bought the paid version of SuperAntiSpyware and it will not permanmently get rid of this "MyWebSearch/FunWebProducts." it finds this in a scan , and when mark it for deletion , it does so , but when I reboot , it is back again. So SuperAntiSpyware paid version , does not get rid of it permanentley from the boot section . it is back everytime I reboot my computer.

Run Malwarebytes (free) . If it doesn't kill your malware, boot into Safe Mode and then run Malwarebytes -- that should do it...

Thanks. As long as I keep it in SuperAntiSpyware's quarantine section , it does not show up in a scan. But if I delete it out of quarantine , then when I reboot , it shows up on the scan. So , I will leave it in quarantine.
