If you do not run the whole CIS program, presumably you have it configured as 'Firewall Security'.

You can check this by right clicking the tray icon and selecting 'Configuration'.

The Firewall Security configuration will produce far more pop-ups from Defense+ than the Internet Security one, but to use that you need to have the antivirus running also, as many pop-ups are no longer needed then.

These different configurations are more recent than the article in Blackmirror's link, which referred to a previous version of the firewall, probably 3.0 which gave many more pop-ups than the latest version 3.8.

I'm still running version 2.4 with no problems, just because I like the interface.

2.4 was a very different firewall from the later 3s and is no longer supported. It's performance was not comparable to the new one, so the only reason I would use it would be for an old version of Windows which cannot run 3.8.

I ran 2.4 with no problems after suffering BSODs when ZoneAlarm updated, something peculiar to my system presumably.

v2.4 may not be supported, but it still does a very good job of protection.
It may be old, but so what, so am I. LOL

Oh no....it's me again. Did you get enuf sleep this morning hrlow?? You signed off at 4am you said.

Yes.....a question. Did I mention TSG can't get rid of me that easily unless someone is incredibly rude...which no one has been. I'm taking everyone back to their beginner roots for sure. Anyway...if you'll recall I downloaded Comodo. Hmmm..let me think of nice way to put this...O...M...G. oh and HOLY CRAP. The pop ups are mind numbing. I must have fielded 50 of them yesterday....AND I DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER TO ANY OF THEM.

"service control manager/system/Msdn something or other/is it a regular apps/parent company/trying to do this/trying to do that/do you recognize this;if yes do this or that/if not;do this or that" and the list goes on. I can't even begin to remember all of the questions it asked me Red alert. Orange alert. It certainly won't take a genius to figure out how long something will be allowed on here that shouldn't be. I have a 9 yr.old who half the time doesn't ask questions..a 14 and a 17 yr old who will get so po'd over the pop ups that will just press anything to get back at me. Like he** they will let me hover over them while they're on nexopia or facebook to keep an eye on the pop ups. And I don't want to even hover over their teenage lame *** conversations for that matter. I think it's called "teenage angst". BORING

The only way that I could possibly learn what to do or not to do is to have someone doing the hovering over me to teach me. This guessing business is for the birds.

So the question would be...should I get a different firewall that doesn't keep asking me incessant questions OR just leave this one ignore the pop ups and let comodo figure it out for itself (i think that's what you said it does if i don't answer right away). This is too much for me to handle. I tried to download winpatrol last nite...orange alert/red alert/orange alert/red alert/parent/service manager/..at least a dozen pop ups. It did download but only for the time being. When i turned the computer on this morning it was gone.

Incorrect. I said that 4AM comes too early (that was what time I had to get up out of bed and on the road by).
Comodo should have a couple of training modes. One asks, and the other refers to an installed whitelist of known safe programs.
WinPatrol gets downloaded to your C drive.Find it (it may be in Programs folder) and install from there.

'comes too early" oops. I was thinking, well you obviously know what I was thinking. I have a GF who has those crazy early morning hours. Oy. Too early for me. It's enough that I have to get up at 8am for one of my kids. She always laffs at me when I tell her that. She's usually at her desk (accountant) by 5:30 - 6am. On weekends when I DON'T have to move my sorry carcass out of bed, I can easily roll around till noon. Let me tell you, that gives my friend heart palpitations Most of the time not sleeping tho, as the girls are usually fighting, I just stay in bed to hide from THEM.
