New version of avira with antispyware
Avira have just released the latest version 9 of their class leading AntiVir program.
The big news is the free version now includes anti-spyware capabilities, a feature previously only available in paid versions.http://www.techsupportalert.com/antivir-v9-free.htm

Sounds interesting but what still concerns me is no mention of method change. Traditionally most known antivirus programs do not repel " at the gate" as no Nod32, Bit Defender and Kaspersky....this makes the approach let it in and then remove more risky.

Dear RICH-M,
I think the lack of "pro-active defence" applies to ?all free anti virus programs.

AntiVir has really improved their products in the past year. While AVG seems to be going south!

Are you referring to a web-scanner when you say repel at the gate? if so the paid version of avira has one...but not the free version, but the free version of avast has one,

With a web-scanner the av will block the malware before it can get into a computer while browsing.
