i have been using avg for years with no problems. i use panda free on line scan just to be sure. the new one is avg 8.5.

I've been using AVG for years now. I've just installed the newest AVG 8.5 and I couldn't connect to the net. Uninstalled it and I'm fine, well, as long as I'm surfing Tech Support Guy, 'cause I've not anti-virus at this moment. I'll try installing again..

I found that AVG 8.5 slowed my Vista system to an unacceptable level. I have always used AVG but just switched to Avira. It seems fine to me.

If you do switch, make absolutely sure that all traces of any previous brand of AV have been removed. Stray drivers can lead to trouble. Autoruns is good for checking that nothing is still loading that should not be.

If you're going to uninstall AVG eventually, you might want to use the AVG Remover.

Didn't know about that. It may have saved me some time, though I would have checked manually, anyway, to convince myself.

Thanks for the AVG Remover link.

I have Vista on my laptop and it has been maddeningly slower than molasses and next to impossible to deal with since the first boot and gets worse all the time. Do they have a patch that fixes any of that?

Well,

Kaspersky is really good im using kaspersky internet security 2009. There is a problem though, it sometimes slows down the internet connection. Overall im pretty happy with the protection.

Well, I have tried installing AVG 8.5 again and again. I can't use it anymore, because I can't connect to the net when it is installed. Guess I'll try Avira...

I just updated to AVG 8.5. All seems fine with my system. I've not noticed any difference in the computer than before, but I'm running Windows XP Pro, not Vista.

if one can afford, you should definitely go in for kaspersky internet security.. I bought this for 1800 indian rupees....its worth the buy
