Cool Solved: IE 7 Activex problem
I downloaded IE8 and had nothing but problems. I removed it and went back to IE7. Every time I try to use Windows Updare, I get the warning on the top that says this will require an activex download..OK..click on it and Install is not an option ..Only allows me to run. So I run it and get a message that says I already have this Activex installed...But I run it anyway and then back to square run. Stuck on the page that tells me that I need to install an activex control. Can't get to the update page. I have a dell with Windows XP SP3. All security is set for automatic updates, so don't know if I get them either....Haven't gotten one in some time.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Ran all scanners..Spybot, Adaware, A Squared, Superanti Spyware, AVG is loaded and ran that also...Thanks!!

I also downloaded IE8 with no major problems. Did the download and install work?

I had no problems updating microsoft updates with IE7. I downloaded IE8 and it didn't like some things I need for work. It was when I uninstalled it and went back to IE7 that the problem started. I did right click on the security message. What was missing is that only run came up. Install did not. When I clicked on run it said I already downloaded it. But I hit run anyway and it just comes back up to the same page with the same warning...can't get past that page to the update site that checks to see if there is anything waiting for you to download.

Thanks everyone for the help. I found an article about setting up custom controls with how active x controls should be handled and it when I went to update, it skipped that annoying page and went right to the update page...
