Angry Solved: can't access admin in safe mode
I can get to safe mode ok but when I click on the admin. It doesn't do anything. I did notice the lights did blink a few times but it won't allow me to access it. I could get in before.
I've ran tons of scans and nothing comes up. It also seems to take forever the first time I connect to the internet. After that it seems ok.

Any help please
I've had this problem for a wile and couldn't find anything on google that would help

Hi,

Can you tell us why you want to use the Administrator account in Safe Mode?

Perhaps then we can help with your problem..

I was wanting to go there to run Adaware etc and make sure things are clean.
It just seemed odd I couldn't get in too.

Is your main account an Admin account?

If the main one is Admin, there is no reason to go into a different account to do scans.

What OS are you using?

windows XP home. HP
I was concerned that before I could go there but now can't and thought may have had worm, trojan causing problems. If it's of to go in only on my main user then that'd be fine.
I keep pretty tight security and clean things up often but in the real world that's no guarantee.

Does it say you are an Admin in the User Accounts?

You're right that something is wrong if you can't get into that account any more. But if you scan from any admin account, it will scan all the files on the machine.

It may even be a good idea to start another account. Having only one account on a machine is dangerous. If that account gets corrupted, you can't sign in at all. You could make another administrative account, even if you don't use it, just so you will have it to make repairs if needed.

Ok I'll try that. Another thing is with this new conflicker worm I was wondering. I can't load things like online scanners much of the time when it requires I use IE when it prompts for the downloading of active x to run program. I just tried it and it kept coming back prompting me again to allow for downloading active x and it would continue over and over when in IE. I was trying to do the microsoft scan for this conflicker worm and it won't load.
First I'll make a second account and wait for your reply.
Thanks

could this problem be related to the conflicker worm? I did see where it restricts access to safe mode.

What type of Internet service are you using?

For me, using broadband cable and using a router, using any user account w/XP Home, I can log on in Safe Mode with Networking and use the Net.

I just recently along with not being able to get in on admin am not able to access the net in safe mode using safe mode with networking. It's acting like somthing is blocking or has changed things ao I can't get in.If I had the money I'd get a MAC.

Hi, One thing you could do is actually scan for Conficker

http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...129TX1K0000532

There are several small tools that clean this infection shown try one or more.

I don't think you have this infection but please try a cleaner to make sure.
