Solved: Can't scan in Symantec Antivirus!
I've been looking everywhere to find solutions for this error: "Could not scan. Scan engine returned error 0x2", but I can't find any nor can I find what it means. It pops up whenever I press the scan button for Custom, Quick, and Full Scans.

I'm using the Symantec AntiVirus 2006 v10.1.0.401 and it would be great if someone knew how to fix it.

Hi and welcome.
Symantec AntiVirus 2006 may have become corrupted.
Have you tried Reinstalling the program?

I haven't because I can't seem to find the CD.
I was hoping for other ways to fix it.

Hi not a Symantec user.
Check for Symantec in Add-Remove programs and click on remove.
There may be a repair option, that will repair the installation files.

Blues harp that most certainly would require the cd.

If I could make a suggestion here most of us here would not use Norton if it was given to us free, but if you want to, it really is a good idea to purchase a new program every few years, rather than purchasing updates as when the program changes, the definitions don't mean much and you are no protected and running very slowly besides.

Why not uninstall it and download and install Avira or Avg8.5 free. You would be better protected and have less issues.

The repair button worked without needing a CD, which I find odd. Oh well, I'm glad it's fixed though.
Thanks for the help guys!
And I will definitely consider AVG as an alternative.
