Exclamation Solved: Removal of McCafee Security Suite after purchase of new PC
I searched for a proper thread for this ..perhaps I missed it..in that case, lock this if you want

I wanted to talk about a problem for some when buying a new PC and it comes loaded with a trial version of McCafee Security Suite...After several weeks it no longer runs.. and prompts you to buy it at the site linked in the message if you want to continue to use it. You come to the conclusion that you don't want it or you can't buy it via the web since you have no credit card etc. and it keeps bugging you to do something...even in Emails.

Assuming that you are a novice PC owner...you take all instances out...delete it. Restart your PC and you notice that there it is again and it's downloading back on your PC..What the? So you try it again and again ARGHHHH!

Surprise! It hasn't been fully removed

That is when you need to go to the next steps

(you don't get this info when you buy the PC)

Step 1 - Uninstall your McAfee consumer products using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel

Windows Vista
Click Start, Search, type Programs and Features, and click Go.
Double-click Programs and Features.
Select the McAfee SecurityCenter product.
Click Uninstall and follow the steps provided.

Step 2 - Download and run MCPR.exe

Link to the directions: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocumen...33&id=TS100507

Download the removal tool here:
http://download.mcafee.com/products/...tches/MCPR.exe

You can also get instructions for XP etc. at the above site

Reboot twice if needed and delete your Internet cookies!

It should be gone after that

I hope this helps!
