Norton AntiVirus/Dell Support clash??!!! HELP!!
Hi!

I'm having problems with my Norton Anti-Virus. It's driving me mad because every couple of minutes, sometimes seconds, its blocking 'unauthorised access'.

In the activity it says 'Unauthorized access blocked (Open Process Token)'

It says the actor is c:\program files\dellsupport\dsagnt.exe

and the target is 'c:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\Egine\16.5.0.134\ccSvcHst.exe

What's going on? Norton is just constantly churning away in the background and slows things down occassionally - please tell me its a simple case of disabling something and not a horrid virus!!!

I'm completely computer illiterate so answers in simple language please!!

Many Thanks!

Get rid of Norton
Get rid of Dell Support
They are both unnecessary and useless pieces of crap

Dear Maddielouise,
It may be a case of conflict between Dell and Norton, because Dell is plugging away for Mcafee anti-virus. Every bloody advertisement by Dell keeps hammering about Mcafee. These are hard business deals and "looks like" you are caught in the crossfire.

As said above ,remove Norton and try an excellent free anti-virus(with anti-spyware)-Avira Antivir which you may download for free from: http://www.free-av.com/

In side your norton firewall there is a program control setting just tell it to allow the dell agent to access the internet. For those with prejudice against norton I don't blame you I refused to use it for years but since they have rewritten it from the ground up its a whole new product I tried it again for the 2009 version. The firewall still leaves a little to be desired but the AV and Antispyware protion of the program is hands down the best I've ever used.

You can go to symantec.com and get a live advisor to tell you how to set it if you can't figure it out yourself.
