Solved: Avira latest Version
The latest version of Avira Antivirus reboots after each update. Has anyone else had this to happen ? The other version did not. It can be annoying.

usually depends upon the update and what it has to update in the application,

There is no reason for an AV to boot after every update, unless it is an update to the base code itself. And, evern then, not necessarily.

I have had that version installed for a while now, and have never seen a reboot.

Have you tried doing an UNinstall/reinstall?

I have yet to see a reboot either. Is this after scanning perhaps or simply updating?

Thanks for the responses. No , I haven't done an uninstall and reinstall. But it reboots with each daily update. Everytime.
I'll try the uninstall and reinstall.

I have just done an uninstall and reinstall. I did the update and it did not reboot. I will wait and see what tomorrow's update will do.

Yes it is progress, lol. I am still waiting for it to update today and see if it reboots. It can be slow with the updates.

There must be an error being detected that is causing the boot

Go to Control Panel > System > Advanced > Startuo and Recovery < Settings Button
UNselect Automatically Restart

The next time the reboot occurs, hopefully there is an error displayed on the screen.

As well, in Control Panel, select Administation Tools > Computer Management > Event Viewer > Application
Select Application
From the menu bar Action > Clear all events and don't save a copy

After the next reboot, return here and see if any errors are noted.

Hey , I found it , but there is no way to delete. I have Vista Home Premium. I am talking about the applications in the event viewer. I did the uncheck in the System thingy.

Todays update said it needed a system reboot. So it is a compulsory reboot.Very annoying. I am tempted to go with another antivirus.

Well , today another update and another reboot. I am going to change my antivirus software. I don't like Avast and don't want AVG any more. Does anyone have any suggestions for another good free antivirus ?
