Solved: Norton Files removal tool used ...but NAV files still exist why is this? gr
I am running Win 98SE. Norton AV was loaded back in ' 01. I removed Norton AV (uninstall).(Then used a Norton removal tool )

After realizing that Mcafee was battling with Norton on security issues scans etc. I removed Mcafee (uninstall). Decided to use Avast been happy as a clam but....I started to look into my hard drive files with a program called Disk Investigator. I found several files that have been there since 2001 they are Norton related and pretty large taking up valuable cache space. Win 98SE does not show Norton AV in the install /uninstall software, in My Computer.

Since I don't run Norton, how can they be removed ?
The files are:

NAVDX.EXE
NAVDX.OVL
NAVEX15.EXP
NAVOPTS.DAT
NAVSTART.DAT

Try to manually delete them in Safe Mode.
