Recommendation for an AV program?
I just got a new laptop and I'm wondering what would be the best one to use? It's Vista and has Norton on it (have to purchase it within 30 days, though), but I'm wondering if there's one that's better? I've read about Avast, is that comparable to programs like Symantec's?

First things first whatever you choose you don't want two AV programs on a computer. That combo will cause nothing but problems.

My advice is if your willing to pay ESET NOD32 hands down and if your not willing to pay AVG Free. If your an astute user then you can disable the link scanner and AVG won't drag your ystem down as much.

Go for the free AVs first. Avira is pretty good, if you have important files/programs in your computer, go with a better one, like BitDefender.

Well,
My recommendations,
If u want protection for free then you have
1. Avira personal edition
2. Grisoft AVG free edition
3. Avast home edition

Otherwise if u wish to pay then,
1. Kaspersky internet security (I use this and im extremely satisfied, im a heavy downloader and really happy with the protection)
2. ESET nod32 antivirus or smart security suite
3. Bitdefender total security/internet security (maybe a resource hog)
4. Avast Professional
5. Norton internet security 2009

the choice is upto you, remember you're protecting ur digital world.
