Solved: Changed settings, but still have a problem...
I have done every suggestion to eliminate this warning:

'Your security settings do not allow websites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly. Click here for options.'

Not sure if I'm missing something or have a bug.

As always, thanks for your help in advance.

imrui, thanks for the reply-

I'm using IE6. I'll tell you right up front, bad experience with IE7, tried upgrade- after several months of problems, went back to IE6. Don't even want to think about IE8 or Firefox.

The webpages are a local paper, stock market report, THIS ONE, and others.

Thanks for your help.

Based on my experience, IE shows that message whenever I open a local page..
Click on that message, then click on 'Allow Blocked Content'..

Don't have that option, it just gives me an 'Information Bar' and it's explanations.

Dear Fyreman,
Two's company! I still use IE6 for MS udates and Mozilla FF for my browsing. I don't even remotely intend to insult your experience or skills(Intermediate), but following the steps i am giving below might be of help!
From the browser menu, click Tools / Internet Options
  • Click on the Security Tab
  • Select the globe icon representing the Internet Zone
  • Click Custom Level
  • Scroll down to the ActiveX controls and plug-ins section
  • Under Download Signed ActiveX Controls, select Prompt
  • Under Download Unsigned ActiveX Controls, select Prompt
  • Under Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins select Enable
  • Under Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting select Enable
  • Click OK to close the Security Settings window (If prompted to verify that you want to change the security settings for this zone click Yes)
  • Click OK to close the Internet Options window
  • Close and Restart your browser.

perfume-

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, after following your directions to a tee, the same problem still exists, in fact as I was reading some other security problems on this webpage AND went to the second page, the warning popped up.

Do you think it has something to do with the 'script-writing'?

Dear Fyreman,
This i extracted from a 2007 MS article regarding Active X for IE6 users.Quote" If you are experiencing problems with an ActiveX control on a Web site that you trust, add the Web site to the Trusted Sites zone in Internet Explorer. To do this, follow these steps in Internet Explorer:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. On the Security tab, click Trusted Sites, and then click Sites.
  3. Under Add this website to the zone, type the URL of the Web site that you want to add.
  4. Click Add, and then click Close." UNquote.

Dear Fyreman,
Thanks to you that i too a learning what to do if you have problems with IE6! Many folks upgrade to IE7 and for good reason too,but somehow i had tons of problems like you with that version and came back to IE6!
I have visited the Eldergeeks forum for a solution, and i am posting the link. Please read it. :http://www.theeldergeek.com/repair_r...e_and_oe_6.htm

perfume-

I followed the article directions you provided and the problem appears to be corrected.

I did get the warning on a very few occasions while testing the fix, but I think it was related to 'script-writing' (little box with red X in it). I have not had the ActiveX warning appear on this webpage or others I use.

I would say this is solved.

Thank-you very much...
