Solved: Images won't load in Firefox- AV or firewall's fault?
Slow browsing... images take a long time to load in Firefox. Could my AV (Avast) or firewall (Comodo) or spybot have anything to do with this?

Sometimes, a site will just hang and never fully load. I tried updating java, but that didn't hep.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I do know spybot and AVG are not good neighbours. Spybot recommends removing AVG. Uninstall Spybot and things may work.When uninstalling use software like revo uninstaller so left over registry items are also removed

Yes, using Firefox 3.0.8. I scanned for malware using spybot - nothing harmful found. Will see if uninstalling spybot helps.

Just uninstalled spybot. Same problem. If I go to a site like msnbc, text is displayed instead of the image.

Something is not allowing/slowing images to load.

Does anyone have a free firewall/av combo for Vista that offers strong protection but won't slow down my system? I uninstalled Avast AV. All that's running is Comodo firewall.

There is a new version of FF 3.0.9

Firefox 3.0.9 fixes several issues found in Firefox 3.0.8:

* Fixed several security issues.
* Fixed several stability issues.
* Many users experienced an issue where a corrupt local database caused Firefox to “lose” its stored cookies.(bug 470578)
* Fixed an issue where, starting with Firefox 3.0.7, inline image attachments on popular webmail services (like AOL and AIM) would not display. (bug 482659)
* Large forms would sometimes take a long time to submit. (bug 426991)
* In certain cases, new windows would not have proper focus. (bug 446568)

Lets get a few facts straight before we start uninstalling needed protections

Do images load in IE

when did this all start

lets see what you have got installed and go from there

go to here and download 'Hijack This!' self installer. Save it to the desktop or other suitable place. DO NOT just press run from the website Double click on the file and it will install to C:\program files\hijackthis and create an entry in the start menu.
Click on the entry in start menu to run HijackThis
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.
Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required,
so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

it is going to be difficult to track down something that happened 1 month ago

the first thing that springs to mind if it is both browers is comodo firewall at fault

uninstall comodo & reboot, see if that works

Please try to resolve this issue by uninstalling the Avast anti-virus and even if the issue persists then reset the settings of Mozilla Firefox.
