Router issues, or cable issues
First thing to check is that if you are using a switch or router make sure it is not shutting off because of firmware issues, and also try a different CAT5 cable, if it does it once in a blue moon it is no huge issue as it means some packet loss which can be expected depending on network hardware. If the router/ switch and cable are all good then it could point to a network card issue.

make sure that all the cables have been fitted in tightly and that there are no obstructions.

Ok...
if cable is good and router /switch (which is at the other end of cable) is working (eg the power light is staying solid and the status light is green call manufacterer tach support for more specific help). Then this points to a severe driver issue or a bad network card (buy a new one), try updating the drivers via microsoft update in the start menu.
