Findnot Sign up problem
Hi

I have been trying to sign up to Findnot for almost a week but I get a connection error everytime I click on their sign up page. The homepage works ok and so do a lot of their other menus but sign up appears to be bust. I have emailed them 3 times without reply. Has anyone else got the same problem or does someone know what is happening with Findnot?

If I cannot sign up with Findnot is there another provider who has the same or better security specifactions. Not Metropipe please I have had bad expereinces with them.

Thank you

FindNot appears to be in trouble
I have been signed up to FindNot for a couple of years or so, and until just this April was satisfied with their service. But something seems to have gone wrong recently. Many of their servers have stopped working - at my comprehensive trial made on 24 April, only 5 of the total 9 Pro servers, and only 11 of the 30 Standard servers were working; the connection speeds of those of the latter which I tried were not merely very poor, as they usually have been, but are now abysmal to the extent that they can't be used in practice. Two emails have both gone unanswered. This is uncharacteristic - they have always been very prompt with answers and advice before. From the message to which this replies (sorry, this forum doesn't let me see your name while writing this), it appears that the sign-up page is non-operative; also non-operative is the User Forum.

I suspect that the company may have gone bust or otherwise been closed down. Does anyone know how to trace a website owner such as FindNot to its country of registration or location in law, and how to find out news about it in such circumstances?

Dear bjab,
FindNot originates from an obscure location and Americans and Indians and Australians seem to use it most! Here is the address:
Findnot.com
Huggins Plaza, Main St
Charlestown 123, ,
SAINT KITTS AND NEVIS

Best wishes!

FindNot
Dear Perfume

Many thanks for your information! I will attempt some follow-up, though I doubt I will get very far with such an address.

Best wishes

Dear indaba,
I have googled around reg. find not and i have bad news for you. It is not a legitimate site and people have gone to court for damages! Please do not visit any file-sharing web site and such topics are banned on this site! I am forced to report this to the admin./ Moderator, as any further discussion is futile!

Thanks for your reply, and Bible lesson,

Maybe I didn’t make myself clear. Reading that FindNot appears to be in trouble, as submitted by bjab, and have used FindNot for several months; they appear to be in some sort of trouble. My question was, is there any similar alternative. Now toddle off to admin maybe they can answer my question, and don’t forget about Charity.

Perfume

Why have you reported something, you obviously don't understand and haven't managed to find out what it is

Find out is a privacy proxy service similar to Tor and has nothing at all to do with file sharing

Please if you don't know the answer to a users question, then don't reply and cause friction with wrong information

perfume,

This is the second time in only a few days that I've had to delete a post of yours that was inappropriate. In view of this and other past infractions, I've banned your account for 7 days.

I suggest you use that time to think about your attitude and style of posting here. If you're not sure about something then don't reply. You're free to report and moderators will make the call and take any action that may be deemed necessary.

You also need to keep your personal observations, derogatory/inflammatory comments to yourself. They have no place anywhere on the site. Be advised that if and when you return, you will be closely monitored and any further infractions will result in an immediate permanent banning of your account.

back to the topic..
Hi Guys, I've the same problem. Can't establish OpenVPN or SSH Findnot connection. Sent them 2 emails but got no reply. I'm also looking for a TRUSTED replacement service - any ideas?
(BTW Gologica: what were your problems with metropipe?)

I've always been curious which jurisdiction has findnot over. No info about that on their website or in their terms. BTW here's a historical whois info for the findnot.com domain:
http://domain-history.domaintools.co...lts#nsmessages (but you need to pay to access it)

Recently I find this site which reviews VPN service providers - www.myvpnreviews.com
So I'll probably choose the replacement for findnot from there...

What I can see
Over the last several weeks, the service has been degrading. Individual servers were dropping out and not coming back and finally, last week, there were none left. Since then, the individual servers have been going from responding to a ping to being totally quiet. The web site functions have also been failing a bit at a time. It does not look as though the system has been shut down it looks as though whoever was keeping it running on a day to day basis can no longer do so and as systems go down they are not being restarted. Perhaps findnot was a one man band and the one man just got sick. Let's hope that he returns soon. If they had gone bust or been busted, I would have expected to see them vanish all in one instant. So it goes.

Findnot alternatives
jpoc: that makes sense..

I've been looking for the replacement VPN provider and I'll probably choose Strong VPN
PROS:
-they use OpenVPN (I've read that it is considered to be more secure than PPTN VPN or IPSEC VPN - correct me if I'm wrong)
-you can pay by epassporte (this payment system resides in an offshore jurisdiction and you don't need to disclose your name when paying with it)
-on the market since 1995
CONS:
-they keep log files for indefinitely long

other option would be Blacklogic, but they are not so long on the market and they don't support OpenVPN but they say that they delete the logfiles after 5 days

Findnot alternatives
Anyone know http://perfect-privacy.com/services.html? On their web site, they mentioned don't keep logs and have strong encryptions.

Hi,

I posted a few other places, but it seems to have taken a while for this conversation about FindNot to appear. I started to wonder if I was the only FindNot user in extistance.

I have used them for years, not months, and I have been happy with them until recently. I don't have anything new to contribute. Just a confirmation of the same experience. No forum, no reply to emails, no service.

I did connect briefly and poorly through PPTN once, but that was short lived. I have tried all the servers.
