When I ran Antivir, I filled out a registration form and thats when I ran into the problem. I cannot get by the firewall to enable this new anti virus. I had AVG for 2 years and didn't like the new upgrade so I was wanting to try this as Security Fix from the Washington Post has been ragging it also. I have never figured out how to disable, uninstall, or delete this extra firewall. Even in programs I'm stopped. Moreover it's stopping me from adding antivir even when I added it to the enabled list like I did for every program that needs the internet. I run as administrator, and am not allowed to delete, don't have permission. I'm writing from my PC with Firefox for the first time, not bad | | Distinguished Member with 3,730 posts. | | Join Date: May 2004 Experience: Intermediate | | firewall since i don't run vista ,this may not work ,it does on xp. goto your control panel ,click on firewall and disable it. | | Member with 55 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2007 Experience: Intermediate | | And that's the problem. No disable, no uninstall, either in programs or control panel or tray. It's a monster, I'm forbidden to delete it. It's not in the uninstall a program either | | Distinguished Member with 3,437 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: NJ, USA Experience: Comp Security Enthusiast | | Hello shiprock520
I believe this is the program you're talking about? http://www.sphinx-soft.com/Vista/index.html
This is from their FAQ,
How to Un-install
VistaFirewallControl un-installer requires VistaFirewallControl's control panel (for desktop version) is not running. The requirement prevents you from redundant necessity of reboot after the un-installation. As the result, to uninstall the product, please close VistaFirewallControl first: TrayIcon/RightClick/Close.

Truth be told it does NOT ever give me the option for any uninstall or delete, even though I run one user account (Admin.). Since this is just my astronomy laptop, with nothing that can't be reinstalled, I have chosen the 'restore to factory' route. However for anyone else you can 'enable all' and get around any problems. This software program has never been praised, and I still have the Vista firewall (which has never been praised either) | THIS THREAD HAS EXPIRED.
