Exclamation Hotmail Hijacked by unknown email
Hey all

I recently logged in to my hotmail account to find various auto emails sent by an unknown company to all on my address book.

I read some of the similar emails on here but was unable to find a solution.

I am using Windows Vista - toshiba laptop.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Raj

Sounds like you got some kind of spyware infection or you hotmail got hijacked. Go to a another computer and change your password and security questions. Do a full scan of your system with a good AV like NOD32 to be sure your system isn't infected with anything. You can use the free NOD32 on line scanner at http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/

Have you allowed any third party companies to access your Hotmail account from Facebook or any place like that to transfer e-mail address or add people to a service?

Hi,

thanks for your reply. No I have not allowed any third party companies access to my hotmail account. I dont have any face book or myspace accounts. I already have Anti-vir installed on this but that has not helped.

Are there any better free AV softwares?

AVG seems to be a popular free antivirus. As long as your system is scanned and your password changed you should be okay. You may also want to run Malwarebytes on the system as well, it does a very godo job at detecting spyware and other hijacks that AV may miss. Keep a eye on it and if it does happen again you should take it to a trusted local repair shop to have it looked at.

I would also recommend changing your hotmail password. You may have been phished. This happens when you enter your password on a site that is pretending to be another site. In this case, Hotmail.
Anti-Vir is an ok antivirus. There's no reason to change, unless you're having a problem.
