If you installed software that came with the router, then uninstall it and see what happens. Most often a router has a configuration web page, and you don't need extra software to administrate it.

Welcome to TSG

I just might try a router reset.Hold the reset button down for at least 15 seconds.
.
Then check the router lights just to make sure that the appropriate ones( power/wireless/wan/lan) are on.
I would also review the cabling to make sure that, for your environment, all appears to be plugged into the correct ports.(Modem to router internet/wan,and from lan port to pc ethernet/network adapter port.

Is the blue screen happening after you try to go on the Internet?

No. It only comes up when I turn the router on. I also just purchased AVG and when I try to install the software I get a message that says I need .NET Framework. So I downloaded the version it told me I needed and i can't download that either. Thanks for your help.

What is the make and model of the router?
How do you turn it on? Routers generally don't have power switches, so are you just plugging it in?
Do you have the same problems when you connect directly to the broadband modem?
Post the pertinent text of the blue screen error.

The router doesn't really get "installed" to your system, unless you mean the setup wizard.

I asked four questions. You need to post a whole lot more information than "yes".
