Solved: Viruses
If a site you visited has your ip address and afterwards you find out that it wasn't a safe site. Can they attack, hijack or send you a virus using your ip address ?

they probably might hijack your computer send you trojans and spyware but the possibility of sending a proper virus doesn't occur because you need to basically download a program that has a virus

A proper(up to date) antivirus/internet security with realtime protection and proactive defense should prevent the adverse effects

Having your ISP address or not - an unsafe site will open your system to attack from spyware etc.
What Anti-virus and Spyware programs do you have?
Are they updated and have you scanned your system with them?

Thumbs up RE viruses
Thanks for all your advice on here , it's scary that if an unsafe site has your ip address can do to your system. Can they do any real damage that cannot be fixed with an antivirus ? I have Norton Internet security 2009 and I regulary run a full system scan and run live update on it whenever i am online. What klind of damage could they do and can it be removed easily.

Cheers !

With your IP address they can attempt to get in through open ports. You should be sure your firewall is configured stealth so nothing is open that shouldn't be. Ideally, a router with a hardware firewall would stop attacks before they even get to your firewall.

Of course if your IP address is dynamic then that means it changes every time you connect and it would be more difficult but they could attack entire bands of IP addreses they know are used by your Internet Provider.
