To norton or not
So its been a long time coming but i finally got around to formatting and reinstalling windows. Im at the point where I should be opening up the install files for norton internet security but I cant seem to bring myself to do it.

Should I go ahead and use norton?
What other programs are comparable?
Free ones?

Im just looking for a decent security suite thats not going to hog my resources.

THanks for the advice.

NOT!

I recommend NOD32, BitDefender or Kaspersky. No free AV will even come close!

Ye I second what phantom010 says, the antiviruses he recommends repel at the gate. try anyone of these three. They're highly recommended

Norton Internet Security 2009 is a highly rated, effective, and generally very efficent security suite. Norton got a bad rap over the years by delivering some bad versions of its software. The latest version is much improved.

I can almost guarantee that people who vehemently criticize all Norton products have never used the latest iteration.

I agree - Norton 2009 products are very light on resources - A huge improvement in all aspects from any previous version.

avg is great and it's free, why pay for anti-virus when you can get something just as good or better free

they will have to have made some huge improvments..as all sorts of odd problems have occurred with prior versions..from webpages not displaying correctly,,to not being able to move a folder.

How fast is real time scanning of files?
Any improvements?
