Safe Music Sites
Hi,
Not sure if this is the correct thread but it is a security question. Recently this forum helped me clean up my system. The music download programs I selected randomly from the internet were not good, in terms of safety. I have a new MP3 player. What is the best site to purchase and download music from. I use I-tunes for my Nano but where do I go for MP3s that won't give me spy ware or other head aches.
Thanks for your time,
KTKIA

I thought Itunes is for Ipods, don't they download as MP4s and don't I need mp3s for my new phone player that isn't an ipod?

Dear ktkia,
Good last post!

Yes,if you download from iTunes, the preferred format is MPEG-4, long for MP4! May refer to the MPEG-4 technology in general or to its file structure, which uses the .MP4 extension. MP4 files are container formats that can hold a mix of multimedia objects (audio, video, images, animations, menus, etc.). Motion Picture Expert Group 4, now that's the expansion of it. The "really" safe music web sites are few and none are perfect and all are pay-sites!

The free-download days are almost over, with the piratebay site folks, handed down prison sentences by a court in USA. Six to seven years back, when i was a bad boy, i torrent-downloaded to my fill and got away with it all! Now the scenario has dramatically changed and one is courting trouble( both, security wise and your federal regulations wise) if he/she chooses the "night sites"( my copy right) and not the "right sites"!

With iTunes batabase, there are Rhapsody ( not happy with the site too) and some more! Best Wishes!

Dear Ktkia,
you can always convert the file into another format. You get a wide range of such converters that support batch conversion!

I thought I-tunes encrypts
Not trying to be a pill but my IT guys says that songs purchased from I-tunes are encrypted so that even if I try to convert it won't play in any other format than an I-pod of some sort. Anyone else? He suggested Napster or the program that uses Windows media player. I am willing to pay I just need to know the safest (i.e.- least likely to corrupt my computer or over cookie my system). Thanks
KT
