I have never had this kind of problem before. I have a Gateway XP, 521 RAM, 40 G HD, Pentium 4, 2GHz,. It all started when my computer just wouldn't restart or shut down. Being an impatient noob, I did a cold boot certainly more than 1 time. When I opened Firefox about 1-1/2 weeks ago, my Firefox had no bookmark, no extensions, and No Passwords!!!! The fre version of Avira has found quite a few trojans, unidentifiable objects. I downloaded Registry Booster, paid for it, and then all they keep doing is trying to get my money. I was even redirected to a page which looked kind of similar to Uniblue. This thing is loaded with creepy crawlees and I'm wondering if I should just strip the drive and install Linux, hopefully they have a version that would be similar to XP, but I am sick of this one. But first, I have to get rid of all these pests.

The General Security forum is only for general questions regarding security software and things of that nature but not for actually removing malware as we have qualified helpers who are the only members who are authorized to assist with those matters.
