Hi there,

I have a Windows XP based wireless network. I am using Linksys router. Built-in Firewall is enabled on the Router and on all the Windows XP based computers.

But my shared folders are still accessible to everyone. I want to give access of my shared folders only to the authorized persons.

Can anyone tell me please the solutions to set the security so that no one can enter in my network and access any shared folder. Even the intruders should not be able to access my network computers.

Any best solutions please?

I would suggest disabling simple file sharing on your PC and then setting explicit user-level security permissions for the shared folders. This is a simple option in XP Pro, but slightly more complicated on XP Home.

To start with, try googling 'turn off simple file sharing on xp home' and go from there.

I just checked that my OS is Windows XP Home Edition so can I use the above mentioned information for the Home Edition too?
