AVG AV 7.5 free
I apologize if I am posting this question in wrong area, but I couldn't find anywhere else to post
.
I have to uninstall the AVG 7.5 free edition from my elderly (90) neighbor's Win98se computer, as it is no longer supported. (She wants to use Avast instead.)

However, everytime I try to uninstall, I get the message:

Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for file setup.exe: creating backup....
Access is denied. (5) %DESTINATION% = "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Free\setup.exe.install_backup", %SOURCE% = "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Free\setup.exe"

Would someone be kind enough as to tell me how I can uninstall AVG AV 7.5 permanently from her Win98se notebook, or where can I go to get answer? (AVG have closed all 7.5 support forums, which I think is a bit premature, I believe.)

Thank you.

The remover window may look like it is stalled out, be patient, let it have plenty of time.

If that doesn't help, try this:

There are many people in this same predicament, these are some of the suggestions that seem to work for many but not all.
