Readme from zip says...
You have to install it before the Giveaway offer for the software is over.

I already have 67 days left on my paid version so was wanting to find out how to go about getting another year.
I know from the program there is a place to put in the key but not sure if it works with this giveaway or not. Plus I want to add a year to what I already have. Then wait till my 67 days are up to add new key because I can get upgrade and it says No upgrade on this. So if a newer version comes out I can upgrade if it is within the next 67 days.

@w32RO - The code is identical to a normal commercial key in every respect. Just to be clear, what this means is:

Licence - it’s a perpetual licence to use the software, including one year of updates. At the end of the licence period - unless you renew - updates will stop. OA itself will keep running, however.

Timing - if you get a key before the GAOTD promo finishes, it doesnt matter when you install. You could sit on the key for a year if you wanted to , or you could install it next week. Basically you have been issued a standard commercial key from our shopping cart - if you installed next week, you get a year from next week of updates.

But you did an install. I only want to use the renew with the new license key so guess that I can do anytime later on so it it great news. If anything it will not update and I will have to install from the new download.

But you had all new installs right and did not just renew with the new license?

You know I never had an User Area there so the one today is all new.

But you think I would have on from the install of 2.x I did last summer.
But all I had to do was put in the Online Armor v2 key: that Mike emailed me. Maybe I used another address or all I did was put in the key so never had a account at the site.
Now it shows the new key under "View My Licenses" but says under... Installations
This key does not have any active installations

Then it says...

So it shows up as being paid.

You know it has at that same page "Renew" with a Green checkmark below it and it is linked to a link that has renew&license in it.

I read the same thing, So I would assume it should renew fine.

Yea I see that renew option if you click next it asks if you want a 1 year or 2 year license then gives you the option to buy it.

Like today to had to register an account to get the key where I had Won the Online Armor from CastleCops and the keys were emailed out to us because it use the email address we used at CastleCops.

Now for you that checkmark link had other options to buy but for me it may just add the key I have listed there that has not yet been used.

That's how I installed it though so I'm glad I did it that way.

Yea that could be why you didn't have an account. because of the way you got your last key.

And I don't have a spare key since I'm already using the free offer one so like you said you'll probably get the option to use your spare key, I didn't think of that.

Well your way worked and that is what counts.

It seems I can not renew because it is a separate license. Don't know why it is showing up where it is but like I said my last license was never at the site so how can it add to it.

Be nice is being a separate license I can just add it after my 66 days are up and I do not need to install it again or worse uninstall what I have to install a new version to use the separate license.

So the Renew option is just adding extra time to an existing license?

So you can just put in the new license in the program (when your existing license runs out) to get a year license from then on, and not have to uninstall and reinstall it sounds like, which is good.
The program will just be using a different license where as renew would be adding extra time to your current license, right?

Well was told it can not be used to renew. But to start over as new it can be. So can not add extra time to an existing license.
Guess it is that way be it said in the Online Armor Giveaway-readme.

Please note that the software you download and install during
the Giveaway period comes with the following important limitations:
1) No free technical support
2) No free upgrades to future versions
3) Strictly non-commercial usage

So No free upgrades to future versions that I get now with the existing license so they are not going to renew what I have or they would have to also let me get free free upgrades to future versions.

So I hope just putting in the new license in 66 days is all I need. I sure hate to have to do a new install when all should be the same but they only kill the version upgrade.
Then in another year I can pay the $49 for the next two years.
