Solved: Need laptop protection. What do I use?
I am using a stock standard toshiba laptop with Windows Vista home premium. My inbuilt Norton subscription has expired and I would like to know what actually is the best protection for my computer. I have recently been infected by malware and am in the process of having it removed.

The best virus protection in my opinion is Avast

it takes much less processing power away from your tasks at hand and its free

Avast can be Downloaded here

http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Home-...=dl&tag=button

You do have to register but only every 12 months (don't worry its free)

Avast is one of the best

This is what I use, free and NOTHING has got through it. AVG on the other hand failed me <kicked it to the curb>

Just another note...

I use Avast / Malwarebytes/ and Commodo's firewall (firewall only-not the security suite) on my laptop which has Vista. No Vista issues, all free, and it gives you the trio of protection.

I would also reccomend the use of Malwarebytes. It scans for malware and removes it.

There is no need for all of those services, you can make smart dissitions when your online and Avast takes care of the rest.
