Angry Solved: renewing norton subscriptions
Hi. I'm IT competent at a low level..

For the second year, I've had problems with the renewal of the standard 1-year Internet Security, which retails around £44.

Everything on the form goes fine until 'we've had an error processing your subscription'..

So I try Customer Support, as on the phone. They recommend emailing instead, with an URL -- which switches when pasted, from 'start' to 'error'..

So I re-do the whole process. Same again. And that happened last year too. The error number they quote is 30024003 which someone said is code for 'dodgy account' which isn't the case with me..

With no support from any quarter, I'm feeling victimised as if with some undisclosed police record...

Please, help !

Thanks Sri Prashant.. I'm OK to stick with the devil I know... but how pathetic that a firm which exists to safeguard our software, can't even look after our attempts to buy into it ! It's my third year of subscription problems with Norton. I have a suspicion that after one failed retry, the system blocks any further attempt. Would that be right ?

Thanks -- I'm trying to subscribe to Norton Internet Security 2009, as the best all-round model for fairly straightforward stuff.

There seems to be some glitch in their computer -- it's come up with my order for 2006 that went astray (billed by some firm that wasn't what they promised). The same glitch that last year drove me from download to buying a disk to download instead. Boring.

LOL
I would recommend changing your AV. This shouldn't be a solution.

Tried once again to renew subscription -- no dice -- gave up and bought a disk through eBay at less than half the price...

Maybe Norton just don't care about losing online sales ?

Thanks anyway !

I always ask my comp technician to bring such software for me. Thats the best thing that would ever happen. Technicians are available at an affordable price here in India.
Anyways, mark this thread as solved.

Hmm.Security suites which are paid for, aren't just worth it. You could go for a free security suite instead. The following suite if completely FREE, and provides as much security as any of the paid kits around:

Antivirus:Avira Antivir or Avast
AntiMalware:Malware Bytes AntiMalware
Antispyware:SuperAntiSpyware Free Edition
Firewall:Comodo Free Personal Firewall
Startup Scanner:WinPatrol

As far as I m concerned, this combination is far more than sufficient to keep all the mischief-makers at bay.

Regards.

Thank you, gentlemen, for the good advice !

Question : how can these security systems be offered free ? How may their creators be rewarded for their good work ?!
