Angry Please help!!i think someone has hacked into my laptop!
I would be really grateful for any help on this. I have recently moved address and my friend has lent me her laptop. I connected to wireless internet which I think belongs to the people I live with. Is it possible for anyone else to hack into my laptop and see exaclty what I am doing. I don't mean the people I live with or other peopl in the street but if someone were to park up outside, could they also connect to the same network and see what I am doing. I know it would be hassle but i need to know if it is possible. I've been thinking people have been watching me recently and have seen a man sat in a car outside with a laptop for a few days in a row now. Today, I came round to my friends house and used he main PC to log into hotmail email account. It came up with this message.....''Please refresh your page. We ask you to do this when you simutaneously log into your account from two different computers'' Do you think this means someone else was logged inot my account? Any help would be much appreciated.. Thanks in advance. PS - these people could also know my IP address from Ebay.

thanks. I have just read it and it has made me feel a bit better that it has happened to other people but my main worry is whether people can see what I've done online if they were to sit outside the house. I think I am danger and it would be made ten times worse if people were seeing what I have done online as it gives a lot away about me and who I have voiced my concerns to etc. Do you think it is possible for them to see what I've done on my laptop? I'm not so worried about the password thing anymore but need to know what they know! Thanks

It is possible that could connect to your computer, but if would have to be within the same network.

So you're concerned that the network you've connected to without authorization is secure? The answer seems rather obvious.

If you are able to connect to an Open wireless network, then it means that that wireless router was not configured to use WAP encryption. So, your internet traffic can be sniffed out of thin air. So to answer your question about others being able to see what you are doing - yes, to a limited extent. They can see anything that generates network traffic. This is without needing to hack your PC. And since you can connect to that wireless network effortlessly, so can that person with the laptop sitting in the car.

If you didn't have to enter in a password or encrpytion to access the network, then anyone can connect to it.
