GeSWall and HIPS
Dear friends,
There are many security softwares in the market with Host Intrusion Prevention Technology(HIPS) nowadays.

The false-positive rate tends to be on the higher side with HIPS included software. That's where GeSWall enters. It can be downloaded for free :http://www.gentlesecurity.com/download.html
I would like your feed back on this extra layer of protection offered.

sorry,it's HIPS ,not hips!

I think the software prevents all caps in a word on titles for threads. This is to prevent "shouting" in titles. Some frustrated new computer users do a lot of.....

I was able to change it. I think sometimes we can override that but not always. I'm not sure what that depends on.

It caused certain hardware to fail. I prefer Sandboxie.

I've heard good things about GesWall,

I tried it once and it worked fine for me and seemed nice but I was too used to sandboxie which works differently so I didn't keep it.

But it is a nice program and does offer great protection, If your browser is contained with GesWall and you download an executable file then that file will also be restricted to what it can do in case you accidentally download something malicious.

Also I wouldn't say HIPS programs contain a lot of false positives, that's actually the way they're supposed to work, especially what's referred to as classical HIPS they alert you to many changes on the computer, if it's your first time using a classical HIPS then all the alerts you'll get might make you go a little crazy at first.
