Confusion on a scale so vast it is measured in trillions of light years in breadth, depth and width. That is my state of mind right now. It all started several months ago (actually, it started when we got our first computer in 1984) with a few error messages in windows, a few blue screen errors occurring at seemingly random times on both our home computer and my business computer also physically located in our home and through a netgear internet hub linked to each other. I have been seeking a source via the internet and other local individuals who work in the computer technology field, to deal with the situation.
During that search I found information that the eAcceleration software StopSign is a "rogue software" and can be malicious. I have had the eAcceleration software StopSign on both computers since we got them a little over a year ago, and just extended my subscription to their service for another two years. Recently I have had some somewhat successful help exchanges from them in solving error messages that pop up in windows. However, following my reading the information about the eAcceleration software StopSign possibly being malicious there was an error message about the eAcceleration software StopSign indicating a problem (according to the techs at eAcceleration) with the windows registry and that I needed to fix that in windows. I have done a "System Restore" on that computer several times (to the same restore date) in an effort to resolve blue screen error messages which again, seem to be successful. In doing that I suspect that may have created the registry problem with eAcceleration. The windows pop up error messages I received about eAcceleration software StopSign were resolved, in all appearances, successfully by uninstalling eAcceleration software StopSign and reinstalling it. I thought this would work with the most recent error message but the uninstall program would not run due to the registry problem. Catch 22.
The search of the internet has provided me a list of anti-virus, anti-pfishing, anti-spyware, anti-trojan, anti-popup, anti-upload, anti-download, anti-malware, anti-this, anti-that, anti-pasta, just to name a few of the millions google provides as well as a similar list of forums of the same anti-whatever. And who do you believe? I have no idea where to start, but I need to start somewhere so I will send you information about one of the computers, you tell me to hijack or something, I do that and I send you that and you can give me an idea where to start. When we are complete with that computer we can do the same for the other. Sound reasonable?
