This looks more like a software conflict. Sometimes rebooting will restore things to normal. Then you must check the temp. file load and type"%run%"(minus the colons) in "run" and select all and delete( after taking a backup folder of the temp. files to be on the safe side. )
Download and use Ccleaner!

Defragment your hard disk regularly. Auslogics disk defrafg is a good tool.

Baically these software conflicts are harder to troubleshoot, since they could appear randomly. Most times, this is due to a lack of memory. If you have a lot of software on your PC, they could be using most of your free memory. If you're running 128Mb or 256Mb with a Windows 2000 or greater OS, then you're probably lacking in RAM.
In the Task Manager, check out the Performance tab & peep the memory section (the 2nd graph Page File Usage History). If the yellow line is anywhere near 1/2 way through the grid, you might want to upgrade your memory or uninstall memory-hungry apps.
With today's applications, it's not uncommon to upgrade to 512Mb to 1 Gb of RAM. As for uninstalling unnecessary application, go to Control Panel & then to "Add/Remove Programs". Search for any unrecognized and unnecessary apps & remove them.

Since you have posted a HJT log, let others tell you what needs to be done!Best wishes and by the way welcome!

You're welcome. Have you followed the things i mentioned. As a sweetener, you can install this free "Unlocker". It will come in useful when files or programs get locked up by Windows. Website to download : http://lockhunter.com/

I am providing another link where you can download Ccleaner and Defraggler (and Recuva). :http://www.piriform.com/

sometimes you have to be careful in deleting temp files when u have avira. everytime i delete the temp files i have to reinstall avira and get my hdd space back. yes, it causes some loss in storage for some reason until u reinstall the files needed for it to run
