Exclamation Don't Open This Email ...
I got an email from a buddy yesterday warning me about Osama bin Laden captured and hanged!

It appears this email is being sent to both Israel and USA accounts (Windows) and it will proceed to destroy your C:\ drive contents if you open it.

There appears to be an attached file called Invitation - Dont Open it, especially if it appears to be sent by a friend - i.e. the mail list of your friend has probably been compromised which is how it spreads.

The virus was discovered by McAfee day before yesterday.

This virus also destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disk.

Thanks.

I wonder how my security setup would do against this...

Dear Gizzy,
Knowing that you run a Sandboxied browser, the virus may/may not affect the system. Willing to pull the tiger by the tail?

Yes I would think either the sandbox or online armor's "direct disk access protection" would defend against it, though I wouldn't know without testing it.

And as of for pulling the tiger by the tail of course not on my live system without knowing the results.

I have got several warnings like this, maybe right from 2006 but none were related to osama bin laden, however they would end in a similar way of the virus destroying sector zero of your hard disk. I guess there is nothin to worry

Thanks for the warning. I heard last year about a virus detected by McAfee that destroys the Zero sector, so I guess it's similar.
