cmd.exe
I am having a problem with the PC locking up everyday between 6:30 and 6:45 pm. Tonight I left the task manager on the screen and determined cmd.exe was on there 40-50 instances. This file was in startup previously and I removed the entry. (After installing Avira AV personal and removing McAfee which was giving major problems).

Any help would be appreciated. File size is 380k.

Thanks.

Are you using Vista or XP? cmd.exe on my Vista is 312kb.

Also check the Task Scheduler to see if it has been scheduled to start at that time. Cmd.exe by itself is just a command prompt. We need to see what commands were run.

Thanks for responding. I am using XP. There is nothing in the task scheduler. When cmd.exe was in the startup file it would show in a small DOS window. No commands - just the window.
