Number of activations using this code exceeded......help!!!!!
I installed a trial of KIS 2010, I used my 2009 serial to activate product however, on trying to activate I get the following error. (Please check screenshot). I tried Kaspersky support but as usual their support is terrible.
Help me pleeeaaasssseee. I am desperate, my computer stands unprotected :'(.

Hi there

The new version of the program requires that you purchase a new serial code. You can purchase a new code from their website.

I suggest you instead look into a free security alternative that can be as good as one of the subscription programs.

You can download a free anti-virus software from one these excellent vendors:

Antivir PersonalEdition Classic- Free anti-virus software for Windows.
avast! 4 Home Edition - Anti-virus program for Windows. The home edition is freeware for noncommercial users.
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition - Free edition of the AVG anti-virus program for Windows.

(or Comodo, listed below, also comes with an antivirus that you can use)

You should also download a free firewall from one of these excellent vendors:

Comodo (Uncheck during installation "Install COMODO Antivirus (Recommended)"!, "Install Comodo SafeSurf..", Make Comodo my default search provider" and "Make Comodo Search my homepage")
ZoneAlarm (uncheck ZoneAlarm Spy Blocker during installation if you choose this one)

I was told by the kaspersky guys that the 2009 license will work with the 2010 edition, I contacted them by telephone (The kaspersky pack says free upgrades during license period, I purchased the product in a physical medium.) I have even sent an email to the kaspersky people, lets see if they reply in a day or not or else I plan to dump kaspersky and go in for avira's premium security.

Oh, well I apologize then. I didn't know they offered free upgrades that's always cool.

There's really nothing we can do about it. All you can do is wait until they answer.

Did you use this form? :

Alright, well, you should also remember that a lot of companies are closed on weekends here in the US. You might want to wait about a week for a reply.

I'm sure there is no problem if you send them two emails. I do suggest you use the form I gave you above because it will be directed to the proper department and you can be sure you will receive a prompt response.

Dear blitz,
If you have a three licensed CD version of KIS2009,and you have used up all three, this is the message it displays--as can be seen in your first post. This also happened to me after i exhausted the three licenses. Since you know how to "totally uninstall KIS 2009",go ahead and do it. Then download either the Bit Befender security suite trial version(not sure if they have one) or ESET's smart security site where they surely have the free evaluation period. Then you get the Security Suite you wanted! Best wishes.

In any case, don't worry too much about viruses if you don't surf or download dangerously. there are still a lot of people who don't use any antivirus software at all because of all the problems and slowness it causes their machines and get along fine. If you don't engage in dangerous practices, you will be all right.

You could also try standalone scanners once in a while during the wait.

Dr. Web Cure-It
Comodo Anti-Malware
Threatfire Free Edition
MalwareBytes trial
A-Squared
PrevX CSI Free Version
Spybot S&D
RunScanner
Ad-Aware
SuperAntiSpyware
Spyware Eliminator
Emco Malware Destroyer
Spyware Doctor
All-Seeing Eye (Monitors system - pretty annoying at first until all safe processes have been approved, but settings can be changed)
Arovax Anti-spyware
Trend-Micro Rootkit Buster
F-Secure Blacklight
Bootzilla (Bootable anti-malware CD with many other tools.)

"Instant" Anti-virus (No installation--just download and run the scanner):

Dr. Web Cure-It
McAfee Stinger
Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool (This one installs but offers to uninstall after the scan. A fresh download contains the most recent virus definitions.)
PING with Clam (A bootable disk imaging CD with Clam AV)
