what security programmes ahould i have on pc?
Im about to receive a new pc im on a tight budget so will be going for those that are free,im thinking of getting

Avast
malwarebytes

will these be sufficient,also does anyone have a secure link to take me to the genuine hijackthis site so i can download it

it willbe a vista pc is it a good idea to get firefox for my browser or are there drawbacks to this

Those are good, but you should also have a software firewall on your computer. You can download HJT here.

Hi,
After reading the links below I settled for Comodo, Avast and Sandboxie for my Vista. All are freeware. Sandboxie provides an extra layer of security for my browsing.
