Solved: IRS notice-SPAM?
Just noticed that I received the following on my alternate e-mail location dated June 9, 2009.
I'm concerned about the request for banking information. Is this SPAM?

UNITED STATE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE: REFUND NOTIFICATION

In view of President Barack Obama $787 billion U.S. economic stimulus package contains about $287 billion in tax cuts, President Barack Obama signed the bill, saying he wants quick action to boost the struggling economy and he has made tax refunds available to US WORKERS, CONSUMERS AND RETIREES via IRS system. A "making work pay" refundable tax credit championed by Obama of up to $800 per individual and $1600 for couples in 2009 and 2010.
For easy distribution of this fund, Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires citizens to register their banking information as soon as possible so as to get refunds across to them. To register your banking information please Click Here

This method is adopted to make the refund process easier and secure, if you are ready to claim your Tax Refund Click Here
Note: For security reasons, we will record your ip-address, the date and time. Deliberate wrong inputs and multiple entries are criminally pursued and indicted.

Regards,
Internal Revenue Service

Hi, Yes very much so, and it is also a Phishing email which if you sent them your bank account information, could very much so steal money or your identify from you! Stay well away from this type of mail, and don't forward it to your friends. You should report it to your ISP and your bank so they can warn customers.

Information> Older variants of same type of email>>>http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/...170894,00.html

And..............>

Do not even reply to them, that lets them know you are a "working" email address and probably not "experienced".....
