Solved: SUPERAntiSpyware acting wierd!!
I have SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition installed on the family computer(Vista Home Premium) and there are three accounte Mine, my mom's, and my dad's. In the system tray, the icon for SUPERAntiSpyware shows the version, the core version, and the datavase version. On my account, it is up to date, on my mom's account, it is showing as the program has never been updated before, and on my dad's account, it shows the last update being April of 2008. Does anyone else find that wierd? I don't know if I screwed something up or if their is a problem using SUPERAntiSpyware on Vista.

Have they updated their versions? If not, then it makes sense that they would have older ones.

You may have to update the main admin account and I would think that would update the others.

The malware profiles are stored in each user's Roaming AppData folder, so it is different for each user.

Oh, I didn't know that. So each individual user has to update on their own account. Is there a way to copy the files in my Roaming AppData folder and paste it in their folders?

*EDIT* I just tried the copying folders from one account into another account, and it didn't work. I am going to update on each account individually.

Just thought of this, if the malware definitions are stored independently on each user's account. Does that mean that I need to scan independently on each user's account and that they will have different results?

Yes, though the three SASs have the same updated data, the detection results will vary depending on the softwares installed and the net surfing habits of each one.Otherwise what's the whole point in installing three SASs in your PC? Suppose you have Adobe Flash installed, there are "more" chances of malware finding it's way in! If your dad uses only the MS Office and regularly downloads the MS security updates(critical), especially for MS office, then the chances of his SAS coming up with "Detected items found" will be low!

So I was wrong but that is nothing new.
I got the pro version so it is always running and I guess updates on it own when each user logs on.

So I can run a complete computer scan on my account and find nothing, and turn right around on another account and come up with infections?

Dear DorianVonRichter,
There is no conflict between SAS and Vista. The answer to your last post is "maybe", "not sure","let the experts chip in". How's that for certainity?
PS; Anyway, you will know the answers once you have updated the other two(Mom and Dad's SAS) and run them. I always feel "the proof of the pudding is in the eating". I am a plagiarist thru' and thru' and occasionally come up with new ideas, like this signature at the bottom of my post!

Not sure either if you need to scan each account.
But I would think if you use the run-as and open under the Main Admin account that it would scan every thing in all profiles.

I tried searching and from what I understand it will scan the files of every account but not the registry hive and cookies of other users.

Also note is you do a scan with SUPERAntiSpyware or Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware or other programs and have a backup or save the scan log file they are not save in the same place because there is one for each profile.
