Unhappy S.o.s.
Please help me to get some sense of this. I allowed someone on my computer and now it seems that I am hooked up to their network. I would like to know the steps involved to permanently remove this intruder. I have lost my administrative rights and do not know how to proceed. My protection right now is Avast.
I have been sick to my stomach about this. Please also tell me what programs I can download (free if possible) if not I will pay, to protect myself in the future.
Can ayone take the time to help me and be patient with me as I am not the sharpest tool in the shed.
I would be eternally indebted to you for your full support.

Do you use a wireless router? If so, do you have encrpytion enabled? I woudl recommend securing the wireless network, by enabling encrpytion or even stronger than what you may have. Also, Malwarebytes is a good free anti-malware program.

How do you know you are hooked up to their network ?

You say you've lost admin rights, does that mean they have changed your admin account's password ? And you can't log in to the admin account ?

Do you use Vista or XP ?

Talking S.o.s.
I believe I am on a network because there is an icon on my desktop and when I right click it , it has one computer then another saying network 2.
I use vista.
I do not have a router. But if this is what you suggest then I will get one and encryption.
In the meantime , how can I access administration if I cannot get on and change things ?
Do I bring my computer to have it checked ?
Thank you for the site.......
I am thankful to you for taking the time to hear me out. I thought no one would answer me.
I am a dummie when it comes to tech stuff......
I have become somewheat paranoid because I am mad about what has happened.
Can I repost again to you if I have a problem ?
I know it will take awhile before I get things settled here.
Thank you so much, you just do not know how glad I feel.

Catherine

I use vista. I have lost all my rights to log in......administrative and all. I cannot make any changes, it goes back right to where it was. When I right click on network it asks me if I want to disconnect to a second network, when I do , I cannot get on the net. I cannot make any changes. I am now paranoid.

My heart is not with computer's, it is with my God. What do scriptures have to do with a comp problem ? Unless your a guy named M. Wojciechowski ?
I can quote to
"Happy is the name who is conscious of his spiritual needs for the kingdom of the heavens belongs to him"....something to that effect.

Absolutely!
Do you have a modem or other device you normally use for Internet?

It's part of my signature, not really part of the post. The line before "Jason" is the line for the signature, anything below it shows up on every post I make, so the verse isn't directed at you, but it's always there.

How do you normally connect for Internet? Wired to a modem, or wireless?
